Handling Complex Attendance, Mental Health & Accommodation Issues

Home Workshops Continuing Education Courses and Workshops Handling Complex Attendance, Mental Health & Accommodation Issues

Every employer has the obligation to provide “an accommodation” up to the point of undue hardship for employees who have a disability or family status matters. Dealing with these issues is often difficult, but the consequences can be severe if mishandled. Spotty worker attendance is typically the first sign that indicates a problem is about to surface requiring accommodation. In this session, we will explore the handling of poor worker attendance, its impact on the need to accommodate as well as the discipline and termination process. Additionally, we will examine the key legislation that impacts mental health and mental illness and the appropriate process for handling an accommodation. You’ll understand your responsibilities in maintaining a respectful workplace which supports, promotes, and accommodates mental health for creating a more inclusive and responsive work environment.
