Accelerated Process Operator Training Program
LOYALIST COLLEGE RESPONDS TO ONTARIO’S SHORTAGE IN SKILLED LABOUR
Loyalist College has launched a new Process Operator – Food and Beverage Manufacturing pre-apprenticeship program, designed to provide opportunities to help people interested in the trades gain the skills needed to enter the apprenticeship system. The Process Operator training program is a pre-apprenticeship program is meant to train employees with the skills to operate, monitor, adjust and/or maintain food and beverage processing units and equipment in the food and beverage industry.
Pre-apprenticeship programs are funded by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) to develop more skilled tradespeople in response to Ontario’s shortage of skilled workers. In addition to fulfilling the requirements needed to continue in a Level-1 Apprenticeship, participants gain hands-on Industrial Electrician experience as a secondary trade, take part in a 10-week paid placement, and receive a Loyalist College Certificate of Completion. The funding covers participants’ tuition, tools, textbooks, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and all learning resources.
Participants looking to take the first step towards becoming an Apprentice specializing in Food Process Operator (246T) or Industrial Electrician (442A) must be out of full-time work and school, a resident of Eastern Ontario and not enrolled in any other education or training.
This first-level pre-apprenticeship program is delivered in a compressed time frame from June 20th to November 18th, 2022 and available to High School graduates, Early school leavers, Unemployed/underemployed youth and adults, EI/Non-EI Eligible, Aboriginal Peoples and Newcomers to Canada.
