The ELEVATE PLUS MANUFACTURING Training Program is a new Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development Pilot project providing a sector-based focus on Manufacturing that better align skills training and pre-employment preparation with employers’ needs by supporting partnerships that bring together sector-based employers with relevant employment and training providers. This program integrates comprehensive job-specific skills and literacy and essential skills with the direct participation of manufacturing and food processing employers in both delivery and program design.
ELEVATE PLUS MANUFACTURING aims to both support longer term unemployed and vulnerable Ontarians to access sustainable employment and succeed in the labour market and to support workforce development in the manufacturing and food processing sectors. The program is a joint collaboration between Quinte Economic Development Commission, Loyalist College, Ontario Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development, companies in the manufacturing and food processing industry, and many community partners.
This model incorporates a number of important elements to address the challenges of those seeking employment by providing them with:
- Vocational training integrated with literacy, language and essential skills
- Workplace training co-designed with the manufacturing and food-processing industry
- Program Graduates receive a certificate from Loyalist College
- No tuition fees for participants
Eligibility Requirements
Designed to support individuals to obtain higher skill levels and sustain longer-term employment in the manufacturing and food processing industry. Referred participants should have the following characteristics:
- Unemployed (18 and over) or working 20 hrs. per week or less
- Strong desire to gain full-time employment with the opportunity to start or re-start a career.
- Able to attend classes and on-site work placement for 6 weeks.
Facilitator:
Loyalist College Training and Knowledge Centre
Duration: 4 Weeks/20 days (9 am – 3 pm), Workplace portion: 10 days (8-hour shifts)
Location: On-site in both Trenton and Belleville. Assistance with transportation can be provided.
