Developing your Onboarding Strategies
You start a new job, and the orientation consists of signing payroll forms, listening to someone lecture you on HR polices and then you are taken into a room and told to complete four online training programs. Once you’ve completed all the online training, you are ready to ‘git er done’ and start working.
Is anything missing from this orientation strategy? Yes – communication, connection and clarified expectations with ongoing support and feedback.
How you’ll benefit
This session will briefly discuss developing an onboarding strategy that involves creating a structured program to effectively integrate new employees into your organization. By following these steps, you can create an onboarding strategy that not only welcomes new employees but also sets them up for long-term success within your organization.
What You’ll Learn
By participating in this program, you’ll have the following learning opportunities:
- Understand the key components of an onboarding strategy;
- Explore how to:
- Pre-board employees before Day 1.
- Conduct first day orientation to build relationships and confidence;
- Customize training to meet the needs of the new hire; and
- Organize a mentor/buddy program that provides ongoing support to new employees.
- Develop a high level 5 Step Onboarding Plan from before the first day until the end of probation.
What’s Our Approach
This program is an introduction to developing an onboarding strategy and will be two hours in duration delivered in a virtual format through Microsoft Teams.
We use interactive approaches geared to your learning style, plus lots of discussion and learning from each other. The result is a learning environment that is fun and has immediate transfer to the work environment.
